The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (PRB) were the bad boyz of English painting. Inspired by work created three centuries before, they sought to move forward by looking back-- a credo rich with economic lessons. The first major PRB survey to be shown in the U.S. opened Sunday at the National Gallery of Art in DC, after a sojourn at the Tate. I was lucky enough to see both. London had the better gift shop.
